The installation of barrier-free access -- including an elevator -- at Hart House
has received the 2005 Award of Excellence from Heritage Toronto in recognition
of craftsmanship and architectural conservation.
The Heritage Toronto Awards
are Canada's longest running awards program celebrating the contributions of all
segments of the community that work to promote and conserve Toronto's cultural
and natural heritage.

of T's King's College Precinct
has received an honourable mention in the 2005 City of Toronto's Architecture
and Urban Design Awards in the category of large places or neighbourhoods.
King's
College Precinct also received the 2005 Regional Merit Award from the Canadian
Society of Landscape Architects. This prestigious CSLA
Award of Excellence has been given to project architects Andropogon Associates
in recognition of excellence in landscape architecture.

University of Toronto projects have won two of three Awards of Merit in the 2005
Ontario Association of Architects Awards. Both the
School
of Continuing Studies [Moriyama and Teshima Architects] and UTSC's
Student
Centre [Stantec Architects, formerly Dunlop] have been honoured.

Stantec
Architects has received an
Environmental
Award of Excellence from the City of Toronto for the
UTSC
Student Centre and its many green design features.

Thom
Mayne, the designer of U of T's Graduate House student residence has won
the
2005 Pritzker Prize. With it's distinctive cantilever and giant "O"
dangling over Harbord Street,
Graduate
House, designed by Mayne and his Santa Monica based firm Morphosis in
association with local partners Stephen Teeple Architects, was described by architecture
critic Christopher Hume as Toronto's "first architectural landmark of the
21st century " when it opened in 2000.
